EMT Dual Credit

EMT Dual Credit Program at Ranger College
Upon completion of the dual credit EMT program, students graduate with a valuable credential that will assist them in gaining entry-level work in the field of Emergency Medical Services. Students may also continue on to higher certificate levels or complete an A.A.S. degree. The EMT certificate is recognized by TEA to count towards accountability. The EMT program typically begins in the fall semester of senior year. Students must be 18 years of age at the time they sit for the National Registry exam.

Instructor
Course instructor is provided by Ranger College. It is recommended that partner districts provide a course facilitator to monitor and support online coursework.
Curriculum
Provided by Ranger College. Classes are delivered in an online environment. Skills practice will be required in person. Skills training will occur once a month at the nearest Ranger College campus location – schedule to be announced.

Prerequisites
None – HITT1205 (Medical Terminology) & BIOL2401 (Anatomy & Physiology) are recommended but not required.
Textbooks & Supplies
Purchased by student or high school partner.
Start of the Program
Each Fall, Spring, Summer Semester
Location
Students take online courses on the high school campus. Skills training will occur periodically throughout the school year at an RC location.
Deadline
All registration materials must be received by the Friday before classes begin.
Financial Aid
Pell grants are available based on student need in the 2019-2020 Academic Year. Students must complete the FAFSA to apply. Please contact Ranger College Financial Aid for assistance.
