Benefits of Ranger College Dual Credit

Saves time: Many students reduce the time to degree or certificate completion.

Accredited instruction: Ranger College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Ranger College faculty hiring credentials are the same as four-year universities.

Support services: Students taking dual credit courses have access to important student support services such as tutoring, counseling, advising, and library services.

Geared for learning: Ranger College offers smaller classes and more opportunities for individual attention to help retain younger and first-in-family students.

Upon completion of the Dual Credit Welding Program, students will be prepared for employment as an entry-level welder. They may also continue on to higher certification levels or complete the A.A.S. degree in Welding with Ranger College.

Schedule:
Each four-credit hour course must be scheduled a minimum of 320 minutes per week. For classes meeting five days a week, this would break down to 64 minutes per day in a 15 week college semester. This standard is generally met by double-blocking the course although districts also may schedule students to a zero hour or other time before and after school to meet the requirement.

Location:
Students take courses at a dual credit partner campus. The welding lab must be approved by the dual credit welding liaison and district partners must supply all required equipment and supplies.

Financial Aid:
Pell grants are available based on student need in the 2019-2020 Academic Year. Students must complete the FAFSA to apply. Please contact Ranger College Financial Aid for assistance.

Dual credit welding students who do not qualify for Pell have access to scholarship funds that reduce tuition to $80/course. Please encourage all students to complete the FAFSA.
